End-of-Life Policy

This topic describes the end-of-life policy for CyberArk products.

Overview

As part of any technology products’ lifecycle, products will eventually reach their natural end of life, mainly due to adoption of new and better technologies, changes in the marketplace, or outdated code and technology. CyberArk is committed to ensuring a seamless and transparent end of life process to set the appropriate expectations of both our customers and partners.

This policy outlines CyberArk’s development and support guidelines for each product version’s lifecycle. The objective of this policy is to assist our customers in making informed purchase, support and upgrade decisions.

CyberArk regularly releases new product versions with new features and security fixes. We recommend upgrading to the latest version/patch release when it is available in order to benefit from better security and stability, as well as to maintain support for backward compatibility in future upgrades.

This policy applies to all CyberArk’s on-premises products as well as to CyberArk’s locally-installed software agents and connectors that interact with CyberArk’s SaaS products.

CyberArk’s support and maintenance services are provided according to CyberArk’s standard terms and are subject to payment of applicable fees.

Terminology and Terms

Version Numbering

Refers to a specific edition of a Product as indicated by the allotted version number. CyberArk’s versioning methodology is based on M.N.P format (e.g., v.12.5.1):

  • M - Major version number

  • N - Minor version number

  • P - Patch-set number

Release Content

Type of release

Description

Major

Usually includes major new features and/or significant software architectural changes.

Minor

Usually includes minor functionality modifications, enhancements and minor software architectural changes.

Patch

Usually includes bug fixes and minimal software adjustments, if needed.

Version Support Levels

Type of version support

Description

Long Term Support (LTS)

CyberArk designates certain versions (whether they are major or minor releases) as ones that will benefit from a longer development period as indicated in End-of-Life Dates below. The default support period of LTS versions is the same as the development period and it may be extended for a longer period, as indicated in End-of-Life Dates below, subject to payment of additional applicable fees.

CyberArk backports newly released high and critical security bug fixes and critical functionality bug fixes through patches to these LTS versions during their development life.

  • LTS versions are offered for CyberArk Core PAS, On Demand Privilege Manager and Credentials Providers On-Premises customers only.

  • In order to leverage long term support, all Core PAS components must be installed on the same LTS version.

  • CyberArk only supports upgrades from one LTS version to another or to the latest version release. This is designed to inadvertently avoid downgrading security and stability fixes that are included in LTS patches or in the latest version release.

Standard Term Support (STS)

Versions that are not designated as LTS are considered Standard Term Support versions and have end-of-life dates as indicated in End-of-Life Dates, below.

CyberArk backports newly released critical security bug fixes through patches to STS versions during their development life.

All versions of CyberArk’s locally-installed software agents and connectors that interact with CyberArk’s SaaS products are STS versions.

End-of-Life Definitions

Definition

Description

End-of-Development Date

Refers to the final date on which CyberArk ceases to provide code fixes and to support direct upgrades between versions as indicated in End-of-Life Dates, below. Support tickets submitted prior to the end of development date will not be affected.

Code fixes provided during the development period varies between LTS and STS versions as indicated above.

Following the end of the development date of each LTS/STS version, CyberArk will not provide any code fixes, and it is therefore recommended to upgrade to the latest version available.

Note that in some cases, resolving an issue in a certain version may require upgrading to a newer version. CyberArk will make commercially reasonable efforts to work with customers that require porting fixes back to older versions. However, architectural changes between versions may be too significant or may include significant changes to third party software dependencies, which makes delivering a patch to an older version impractical. In addition, architectural changes between versions may require upgrading through an intermediate version and a direct upgrade will not be available.

End-of-Support Date

Refers to the final date on which CyberArk ceases to provide helpdesk technical support for a product version.

End-of-Life Dates

The actual end date is the last day of the listed month.

All patches have the same end-of-life dates as their origin-version. For example, v12.2.1 and v12.2.2 both have the same end-of-life dates as v12.2.
