Change your password
This topic describes how to change your user account password. Changing your user account password impacts the following:
-
The User Portal sign in
-
The password used to enroll devices
-
Any enrolled Windows or Mac machines that you access with that user account
If you are a Windows user signing in with an Active Directory account, you might need to change other passwords as well. For example, if you sign in to Outlook with the same account, you’ll need to change that sign in password to match. Confirm with your IT staff regarding other passwords you may need to change after you change your Active Directory User account password in the User Portal.
If you are a Mac user on an enrolled machine, when you change your password, the Mac Cloud Agent updates the password in the directory source, keychain, and FileVault.
Your IT administrator controls whether you can change your password, and if you can reset forgotten passwords.
Reset a forgotten password
-
Click the Forgot your password? link from CyberArk Identity sign-in window.
While you are resetting your password, the options you see for conforming your identity are the authentication mechanisms your administrator has set in the authentication profile.
- Select the authentication mechanism from the drop-down and then click Next.
- Complete the selected authentication mechanism.
-
Enter your new password and then click Next.
If your account is locked under the following scenarios, you won't be able to change your password using the User Portal, even if you have another active session:
-
Your account has been locked by the admin from the Identity Administration portal.
-
You've locked yourself out of the User Portal. For example, you are locked out after a given number of failed sign-in attempts.
Change your password using the User Portal
-
Go to Account > Authentication Factors > Edit in the Password area.
- Enter your current password.
- Enter the new password.
- Re-enter the new password to confirm and then click Save.
Change your password from a Mac
To change your password from a Mac, ensure your Mac is enrolled with the Mac Cloud Agent.
-
Click the Mac Cloud Agent icon in the menu bar, then select Change Password.
-
Complete the password fields, then click Change Password.
You might have to satisfy additional authentication mechanisms if your administrator has configured them.
Change your password on an enrolled mobile device
- Tap the CyberArk Identity mobile app on your device.
- Tap Settings > Change Password.
- Enter your current and new passwords and then tap Save.
