Configure the endpoint user experience
This topic describes how to customize the EPM experience for endpoint users.
Overview
You can customize the dialog boxes and pop-up balloon messages that are displayed to end users. A variety of messages can be created and assigned to different policies.
In addition to customizing the end user messages, you can also add additional control and support.
Multi language support
The EPM service comes with multi-language support for the dialog and balloon endpoint user UI messages. Once messages have been created for other languages, the EPM agent is able to detect the endpoint OS language settings and display the message in the correct language that matches the endpoint environment.
For example, if messages have been created in English, French, and Spanish with the default language set to English:
-
Endpoint users who use a computer with a Spanish OS will see messages in Spanish.
-
Endpoint users who use a computer with a Dutch OS will see messages in English
If the default language is changed to Spanish, the endpoint users who has a Dutch OS will see messages in Spanish.
The dialog and balloon End-user UI editor each come with the following language toolbar:
It is not advisable to change default (English) UI elements to contain another language; EPM recommends using the procedure described in this document only for multi-language support. |
The following procedure provides an example of how to create a copy of a dialog box and add German to the newly created dialog box.
-
From the EPM Management Console, go to End-user UI and then to Dialogs.
-
Select Actions and then Add Dialog and then Audit Video…; the Dialog Editor opens.
-
In Audit Video, click a user-defined name – preferably the title in the requested language - in this example, Prüfung Video.
-
Click Add new language (
), then select the requested language - in this example, German.
-
Edit the text settings (messages and buttons) you would like to appear in the requested language.
-
To define the language you added, or any language other than English, as the default language, select the requested language and click Make current language default (
).
-
After reviewing the newly updated text, click OK to save.
To review the messages created in each language in the system, select the requested language from the list.
