Self-hosted products

This topic describes the end-of-life policy for CyberArk self-hosted products and lists the end-of-life dates.

Version numbering

Version numbering refers to a specific edition of a product indicated by the assigned version number, based on M.N.P format (e.g., v.12.5.1):

  • M - Major version number

  • N - Minor version number

  • P - Patch-set number

Release content

Type of release

Description

Minor

Typically includes minor functionality modifications, enhancements and minor software architectural changes.

Patch

Typically includes bug fixes and minimal software adjustments to a Major or Minor version. Released on an as-needed basis.

Definitions

The following table describes the definitions used in the EOL dates for self-hosted products.

Definition

Description

Support Period

The period in which CyberArk customer support provides technical support with regards to a product version, including problem verification and determination, temporary fixes, if applicable, and fixes that were developed during the version’s Development Period. This does not include support that requires engineering efforts or development of new code fixes.

End-of-Support Date

The date on which the Support Period ceases.

Support tickets submitted prior to the End of Support Date will not be affected.

Development Period

The period in which CyberArk provides code analysis and maintenance for a product version, including code fixes as necessary.

  • Code fixes provided during the Development Period vary between LTS and STS versions as indicated in Version support levels, above.

  • Versions within their Development Date support direct upgrades between versions, except:

    • If otherwise specifically set forth in the version’s release notes.

    • If, due to architectural changes between versions, an upgrade needs to be done through an intermediate version.

End-of-Development Date

The date on which the Development Period ceases.

  • Following the End of Development Date, CyberArk will not provide any code fixes to that product version.

  • To benefit from improved security and stability, customers should upgrade their product to a version that is within its Development Period.

  • There may be circumstances in which - despite CyberArk’s reasonable commercial efforts - resolving an issue will require upgrading to a newer version, even if the version is still in its Development Period (for example if a fix requires significant architectural changes or includes substantial changes to third party software dependencies, which make delivering a patch to an older version not feasible).

  • Similarly, in the event underlying platforms, browsers, and/or systems incorporated in a CyberArk product, are no longer supported by their respective vendor, or are not properly maintained by their vendors, CyberArk may be required to shorten the Development Period of the version which relies on such systems in order to comply with appropriate security and performance levels of its products.

Version support levels

Each version is assigned with a specific support level – Standard Term Support (STS) or Long Term Support (LTS) – which defines the version’s scope and duration of technical support and code maintenance, as further detailed in this section.

Any version that is not specifically designated as LTS is considered STS.

Long Term Support (LTS)

  • During the Development Period, CyberArk backports high and critical severity security bug fixes, and critical severity functionality bug fixes. LTS versions offer a longer Development Period than STS versions, as indicated by the End of Development Dates in the EOL dates for self-hosted products.

  • The Support Period may be extended by the customer for the duration indicated in the EOL dates for self-hosted products, subject to payment of additional applicable fees. In any event, it is not possible to extend the Development Period.

  • Fixes for LTS versions of PAM - Self-Hosted products require that all components are on the same LTS version.

  • CyberArk only supports upgrades from one LTS version to another or to the latest version release. This is designed to avoid inadvertently downgrading security or stability fixes that are included in LTS patches or in the latest version release.

Standard Term Support (STS)

During the Development Period, CyberArk backports critical severity security bug fixes.

EOL dates for self-hosted products

The actual end date is the last day of the listed month.

The end-of-life dates apply to the original version as well as their patches.
